Yes, of course he’s going
Did you really have to ask?
UMass Lowell Chancellor Marty Meehan, Patriots’ fan extraordinaire, will be at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis early Sunday evening when his beloved New England Patriots take on the “New York football Giants” in Super Bowl XLVI.
Meehan scored one of the precious ducats by virtue of being a season-ticket holder with club seats.
Meehan was scheduled to fly into Chicago and then stay at a Best Western an hour outside of Indianapolis.
Accompanying Meehan will be Bill McCann, his chief of staff when he was in Congress, and his brother, Michael McCann.
Bill McCann currently works in DC, as chief operating officer for Strategic Marketing Innovations, a defense lobbying firm.
Michael McCann is equally accomplished. He is a nationally recognized expert in the fields of sports law, antitrust, and law and economics. He received tenure in 2010 and is Director of the Sports Law Institute at Vermont Law School. McCann is also Sports Illustrated‘s legal analyst.
Meehan, who has been known to mix university business and his love of the pigskin, will focus solely on football this trip.
“Strictly football,” he said.
His prediction? NE, 28-24.
Fueling New England’s win will be quarterback Tom Brady, bouncing back from a dismal showing against Baltimore in the AFC championship game; an improving defense, anchored by behemoth lineman Vince Wilfork; and a pulverizing running game behind “The Law Firm,” BenJarvus Green-Ellis and Stevan Ridley.Explore posts in the same categories: The Column
