Michael Lally, the executive director of the Whistler House Museum of Art the last 11 years, told his Board of Directors at Wednesday night’s annual meeting he is resigning.
Lally will work his last day at the Whistler July 29.
Lally has accepted a position working a top administrative post for the Lowell Cemetery.
“It was a difficult decision,” said Lally, who said he’s leaving the Whistler on “positively amicable” terms. “But it was too exciting an opportunity to turn down.”
Lally is replacing Irene Finneral, who has been the office manager since 2002 and is retiring June 29. The office manager maintains all burial records. The office manager is also responsible for all bookkeeping functions and planning of the many events that take place throughout the year. Other responsibilities include dealing with funeral directors and scheduling of interments. The office manager also responds to many genealogy requests.
